Abstract

This paper presents research results on the effects of microstructural evolution and mechanical properties of titanium welds after heat treatment. Microstructural analysis indicates a uniform structural bonding from the titanium base metal to the weld pool. Following heat treatment, the microstructure of the weld pool, the heat-affected zone (HAZ), and the weld joint exhibits a homogeneous distribution. The weld pool consists of a dual-phase (α + β) mixture, featuring a large number of α plates growing in various orientations. Elemental distribution analysis reveals the diffusion of Al and V elements from the filler material into the titanium base metal. After quenching at 900 °C and aging at 525 °C for 4 hours, the microhardness of the heat-treated weld reaches 344 HV. The maximum tensile strength of the weld joint achieved is 428 N/mm2.

Keywords: Titanium, heatreatment, α phase, (α+β) phase
