Abstract
This paper presents research results on the microstructural evolution and mechanical properties of low Mn steel under different heat treatment conditions. The findings indicate that when the steel is modified with Ti and subjected to an appropriate heat treatment process, the resulting microstructure consists of bainite combined with retained austenite. After heat treatment, carbides are dissolved into the matrix, leading to a more homogeneous microstructure with refined grain size, which contributes to the improvement of both mechanical properties and structural characteristics of the steel. Impact toughness analysis of the heat-treated specimens shows that the impact energy reaches 71.87 J/cm², while the hardness value is 43 HRC. Using experimental design methodology, the optimal heat treatment parameters for the investigated steel were successfully determined.
