Abstract

The main girder is one of the important parts of the gantry crane. The present article proposes a method to optimize the structure of the gantry crane girder according to its minimum weight by a differential evolutionary algorithm. The obtained results serve as a scientific basis for either the optimal design of girders (i.e., gantry crane girders) or the automatic designing of the whole machine.
