Abstract

Urban areas are growing, public passenger transport is increasingly used, especially buses. Bus overload has affected the strength of the bus frame and other part. Therefore, it’s very important to research on the evaluation of the frame reliability when frame is design. The paper presents the results of the research, caculation of bus fame durability. The chassis is simulated and evaluated for durability by HyperWorks software to determine displacement and stress of the frame. The process of building the problem is done based on finite element method, thereby observing the stress as well as the deformation of the frame. The chassis is tested under the satic load case, bearing the full load. Simulation results are used to analyze the safety of frames. The simulation results show that the chassis is durable, the places that cause stress are concentrated such as the welds, the position of the suspension system.
