Abstract
Maritime Piracy has brought effects not only into the public international law but also into the maritime law. The law enforcers are really facing ambiguities of the laws resulted from lacuna of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea as well as nation laws of the respective countries where piracy cases are tried and prosecuted. And because of the invention of new styles in the crime of piracy, particularly piracy activities in African continent whereby a huge amount of ransom is demanded and the number of crew members are held hostages on top of the theft of cargo and other ship and crew valuables... This article is going to illustrate the effects of piracy into international maritime law.
