Abstract
In Vietnam, the selection of the design codes for steel designs depends on the investment agencies if foreign owners or private investors invest in the projects. Three design standards are commonly adopted for steel structures, including TCVN 5575:2012, AISC 360-16, and EC 3. Because the framework to predict resistances varies for different design codes. This work evaluates and compares the resistances of truss members with hollow sections using the three abovementioned design codes. The investigations help to summarize the computing processes of strength resistances following the three standards. After that, the hollow sections provided by SSAB are employed to estimate the resistances considering three design codes. The results and comparisons provide insights into the strength resistances of the three design codes.
