Abstract
This paper presents the results of simulation study on the effect of hydrogen addition to the intake manifold on soot formation of diesel engines equipped with exhaust gas recirculation system. The research engine is a single-cylinder R180, 4-stroke diesel engine. The simulation software is AVL Boost software. The study mode is the 2600rpm mode. Research results show that hydrogen has play an important role in reducing soot formation. Specifically, with the optimal hydrogen ratio, the amount of soot reduced on average by 22% compared to the original engine.
