Abstract
This paper presents the research results on the influence of solder wire on the microstructure and hardness of the weld between Ti and TiAl6V4 alloy. Titanium and TiAl6V4 alloys are important materials in the marine and shipbuilding industry, as well as in the aerospace, chemical, medical,... The results show that: with both types of solder wire for the microstructure of the weld region, the grain size of the HAZ regions of these two regions is coarse compared with the base metal. The microstructure in the center of the weld when using the TiAl6V4’s solder wire is the widmanstatten phase; In addition, by SEM, EDS, and XRD analysis, the Ti3Al17 intermetallic phase was identified in the weld. Maximum hardness measured in the molten metal region. Using Ti, the difference in hardness is less, creating uniformity in mechanical properties.
