Abstract

Ensuring fire and explosion safety in industrial environments is of paramount importance. Gas leakages in factories, warehouses, and production facilities constitute a severe risk of fire, explosion, and toxic exposure. Conventional warning systems, often relying on low-cost sensors, are prone to significant inaccuracies and high susceptibility to environmental interferences such as temperature and humidity, leading to frequent false alarms or missed detections. This study proposes the development of an ESP32-based IoT gas monitoring system integrated with an Artificial Neural Network (ANN). The methodology employs MQ-x gas sensors, humidity sensors, the ESP32 microcontroller, and Virtuino IoT software, interconnected via Wi-Fi. Experimental results demonstrate the feasibility of deploying embedded ANNs on the ESP32 within an industrial IoT framework. Consequently, this work paves the way for further research and development of embedded AI models addressing broader environmental safety monitoring challenges.
