Abstract

In the article, the results about microstructure changing and increasing ductility of Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloy which were modified by La, Ce and combined with thermo-mechanical treatment, are presented. Research results show that: After modification combined with thermo-mechanical treatment, the ductility of the alloy reaches 667%. The results of the microstructure show the role of Al11Ce3 as the nucleation of the solidification process and the role of preventing grain growth of Al3La. After deformation and heat treatment, the grain size of a studied alloy is less than 10µm with grain fine and have important basis for increasing the ductility of the studying alloy.
