Abstract
Strict regulations on SOx emissions from ships were in force, the low-sulfur marine distillate oils (LSMDO) began to be extensively applied. However use of these new fuels in existing engines leads to problems such as wear of fuel injection equipment. The laboratory analysis of tribotechnical characteristics of such fuels has shown that sulphur content make the greatest effect on their antiwear properties. In this experimental study, a test simulation model on the engine fuel pump plunger pairs was designed and the strengthens test was performed in 100 hours with MDO and MDO - vegetable oils blends. Test results shown that the wear of the high pressure pump plungers increases 10 times when they work with LSMDO. Adding the palm oil to LSMDO with the concentration of 3% is the effective way to increase the lubricating property of LSMDO.
