Abstract
Nowadays, ports get affected by competition more than ever before, especially in the era of containerization. Thus, it is essential to gain great insights into the competitiveness of container ports as well as its determinants. This research aims to investigate what are the main factors for evaluating port competitivenes. Five key evaluating Level 1 criteria consisting of Level 1 criteria are weighted by adopting an objective weighting technique, so-called the Entropy algorithm. The results reveal that the facility is the most critical determinants of port competitiveness, followed by port throughput, port service quality, port charge, and port location. This research contributes to the literature of port competitiveness by proposing an approach combined both quantitative and qualitative evaluations.
