Abstract
In recent years, the flow of cargoes through Vietnam's seaports has grown strongly. Especially as the gateway to the Northern region, the throughput of cargoes through Hai Phong port area also achieved outstanding growth. In the context of the increasing workload and labor intensity, there are always potential safety risks in the port area. To limit accidents, it is necessary to have in-depth studies on the factors and their influence on safety in seaport operations. The purpose of this study is to propose a list of factors that have important impacts on safety in seaport operations, specifically at container terminals in Haiphong. The study used a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods to rank the importance of factors and test the differences in assessment opinions among different respondents. The results of the study have important implications for port managers, supporting them in identifying and making appropriate management measures to improve safety at seaports.
