Abstract
Controlling the annual carbon intensity indicator (CII) from ships is one of the goals and ambitions to reduce greenhouse gas pollution emissions from maritime transport mentioned in the initial strategy in 2018 and the strategy in 2023 of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) on reducing greenhouse gas emissions from ships. The article presents the results of calculating and ranking CII for some Vietnam ships based on experimental data. The results show that all ships selected for calculation have very low CII ratings. From the research results, the article proposes some solutions to improve CII ratings for Vietnam ship fleet as shown in part III Ship energy efficiency management plan mandatory to apply from 1st January 2023 as required by regulations 26,27,28 annex VI-MARPOL.
