RECOMMENDED METHODS FOR SAFE NAVIGATION THROUGH THE HIGH RISK AREAS OF MARINE ACCIDENTS ON THE HAI PHONG NAVIGATION CHANNEL

Abstract

Maritime safety on the navigational channel along with the improvement of conditions for exploitation and reception of ships arriving and departing are important factors that create attractiveness and attract ships of large tonnage to call at Hai Phong port. In order to ensure safe means of arrival and departure along the port's channel, in addition to complying with relevant regulations, the ship must also pay attention to the objective influences of atmospheric-hydrology factors and traffic density on the Hai Phong navigation channel. The article explores areas where there is a high risk of maritime accidents on the Hai Phong channel to make recommendations on appropriate ship navigation methods for large tonnage ships with deep drafts to improve maritime safety and minimize causing unsafety on the channel, in order to contribute to the construction and development of Hai Phong port into a modern civilized international seaport.
