Abstract
This study is carried out with the aim of optimizing the extraction conditions of Cleistocalyx operculatus and initially evaluates the anti-corrosion effect of this extract, which is natural product and is safe for the ecosystem. The process of extracting the plant by the solvent extraction method using ultrasound is optimized under the following conditions: Solvent: Ethanol (with the ratio of Ethanol/water = 7/3); Raw material/solvent ratio: 2/100 (g/ml); Optimal ultrasound time: 30 minutes. Corrosion inhibition test of steel plate in sea water environment was carried out in the laboratory and showed positive inhibitory results of the extract of Cleistocalyx operculatus leaves. With at least 100mg plant extract/50ml sea water, the corrosion is inhibited after 16 days.
