Abstract
Application of automation on ship control is one of tendencies to improve the ship operation efficiency and reduce the number of crew. Ship collision avoidance maneuvering, is a duty of deck officers which includes: Ship target recognization, collision risk evaluation, and processing action. In this article, a framework approach is proposed to build automatic ship collision avoidance system in the future, which consists of requirements for system, system structure, and algorithm for automatic collision avoidance system. This framework is seen as a basic orientation for establishing components in automatic ship collision avoidance system in the future.
